Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day

On May 26, 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a Presidential Proclamation recognizing Waterloo, NY as the official Birthplace of Memorial Day. For more than 150 consecutive years, Waterloo’s citizens have remembered the sacrifices of fallen soldiers with a community-wide commemoration.

Celebrate Commemorate pays tribute to this storied legacy, as the annual event includes musical performances, art and craft shows, children’s games, a parade through the village and fireworks display.
