Dirt Turtles are your friendly neighborhood, honky tonkin, rock-a-billy, blues band from the Western NY/Finger Lakes Region.
They offer a high energy blend of country, folk, blues, rock, and bluegrass.
The band is led vocally by Daniel McMahon and Sam Warren: literal blood relatives and lifelong friends, who have cooperated on musical endeavors together for as long as they’ve been able to play guitars.
In the Summer of 2024 the duo was lucky enough to find themselves a rhythm section straight outta heaven and hence... Dirt Turtles was created. Roger Barnes is a bass player originally from Andover NY, but his music has graced folks all across the globe during his illustrious career. He opened for Johnny Paycheck back in ‘93... it is far from his first rodeo. On the drums, the great Andrew “Bucky” Bossard. Bucky has been a drummer for a variety of bands since the 90’s, some of his more notable ventures being Rubber Soul, Eric and the Bluesbirds and most recently stints with Eric Carlin’s Halfdead. Dirt Turtles’ most recent addition comes bearing a mandolin. Known best for his work with The Sweet Degenerates, Johnny VanName is the piece that ties Dirt Turtles all together, filling their sound with tasteful licks and filling the
crowds’ heart with joy. Their smooth harmonies, twangy groove and improvisational jams are sure to make you dance, make you laugh, and make you crawl in the dirt with the rest of the turtles...
