Taking Tea, Suffrage Style

Elizabeth Cady Stanton will be in Seneca Falls this summer visiting old friends. While she is in town, Catharine Becker has invited Elizabeth to take tea with her at her family's mansion on Cayuga Street. Elizabeth has readily accepted the invitation, on the condition that the community be invited in as well to join the women and take tea with them. Of course, Catharine has agreed to that condition, as she enjoys hosting young schoolchildren in her home to take tea with her during their school day in the springtime. During their gathering, Catharine and Elizabeth will talk about the women's rights movement that was sparked when the first women's rights convention took place in Seneca Falls nearly 50 years ago. Elizabeth is bringing along a surprise guest - someone who helped her plan and host that first convention.
