On July 22, 1995, Finger Lakes Railway Corp. (FGLK) acquired 118 miles of Conrail-owned lines known as the ?Geneva Cluster.? Carload volumes on these lines were less than 5,600 annually. Since then, FGLK has significantly increased its carloads through aggressive marketing and industrial development programs with both existing and new customers. Total Carloads handled in 2008 exceeded 18,000. Through an acquisition in 2007 of the Ontario Central Railroad (ONCT), FGLK also added 12 miles and 4 new customers to the business. Currently operating on 154 miles, FGLK has a customer base of 54 customers. FGLK is an innovative, truck competitive, service provider offering fair pricing and a high-quality car supply. FGLK has been helping shippers reach new customers in both domestic and international markets, as well as on other shortlines, and Class 1 railways. Commodities handled include: Forest Products, Paper, Scrap Paper; Building Products, Lumber/shingles and roofing; Metals, Rebar, Bars and Scrap, Auto Fluff and Auto Shred; Canned Goods and Tomato paste, Plastic Pellets, Glass Manufacturing aggregates, Soda Ash, Limestone, Sand, Clay, Fly Ash; Chemicals, Agricultural, Grain and Fertilizers, both dry and liquid; Stone and Ballast, Ethonol and Corn Syrup, Beer, Food Producs, Potatoes and Onions, Coal. FGLK has the ability to handle Food Grade warehousing with outside ability to store lumber, poles and ties, panel, and metals. We are transload experts in the Northeast.
