Welcome to Airy Acres Vineyard!

Hours: Thurs-Sat 11AM-6PM

We are a family-owned vineyard located on the west side of Cayuga Lake, near Interlaken New York.

After growing and selling grapes to local wineries, we started selling our first wines in 2021.

We strive to make beautiful wine from our high-quality terroir while giving an educational and enjoyable experience.

Our first plantings were in 2015 and we now have 21 acres consisting of Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Lemberger, Chardonnay, Saperavi, and Rkateseli. Our grapes are also sold to wineries across the Finger Lakes.

Thank you for your support in 2023

Hello friends of Airy Acres Vineyard!

Thank you for 2023 and looking forward to 2024!

2023 was our first year with regular tasting room hours in our ‘interim tasting venue’ in and behind the vineyard barn. We want to say a big thank you to all who visited us, got on our mailing list, tried and even bought some wine. Or joined the wine club. We are very thankful you made the effort to find this ‘new kid on the block’!

We’re open today, Saturday Dec. 30, until 6PM, should you need any wine.

Starting in January the tasting room will be open only Saturday’s from 11-6pm. Scheduled tastings/pickups at other times can be set up here. And orders for shipment (or pickup) can be done here.

The reds from the 2022 harvest were recently bottled, and two are available for sale. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, our first from the vines planted in 2016, and the 2022 Osprey, which is a slightly different mix than the 2021 vintage, with some Cabernet Sauvignon added to the Cabernet Franc and Lemberger.

As many of you know, construction is ongoing to renovate the 1840’s farmhouse into our new tasting room(s) and cased wine storage building. Right now it’s ‘just’ a big green insulated box with wires and pipes and drywall being installed inside. We plan to open sometime in May, when it will look something like the architect’s rendering. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks,
Fred & Noah and the rest of our Bassette family vineyard team

2022 Rose released and more

Hello friends of Airy Acres Vineyard!

We’re continuing to be open Thurs/Fri/Sat 11-6, and Mon/Tues/Wed for scheduled tastings. Hours may change as the weather gets colder.

In honor of Veterans Day, on Saturday November 11 we are doing free tastings for Veterans and Active Duty military. We will also be giving a free Veterans Pin, while supplies last.

We just released our 2022 Rosé – that is vibrant in color and flavor, and will surprise you with its robust body and sapid flavor! Fresh, crisp, and succulent, a crescendo of snappy and ambrosial flavors caresses your taste buds. Perhaps it would make a great addition to your Thanksgiving meals?

Speaking of Thanksgiving … we’d love to ship you some wines for those holiday gatherings. For Thanksgiving we’d recommend both our Dry and Semi-Dry Rieslings, Gewurztraminer, Crosswind (Gewurztraminer/Riesling blend), and Cabernet Franc – although all wines go well with family! Order by Nov. 15 to make sure it arrives on time.

The next major phase of tasting room work started this week. All the old windows were removed, also the old clapboard siding, so that the new insulated Zip sheathing panels can be installed. Three sides of the house are done, and the rest in the next week. And then interior work will continue – changing walls, installing electric, insulation, etc.
Stop by and we’ll give you a tour!

We finished our fall harvest Oct. 20! Quantity and quality very promising. And it included our first harvest of the Saperavi and Rkatsiteli, so we’re looking forward to those wines next year.

And for this edition’s bit of wine info, here’s an article about food and wine pairing!

Thanks,
Fred & Noah and the rest of our Bassette family vineyard team

And for those of you who’ve read this far … here’s a little educational tidbit about aromatic white wines.

Airy Acres Vineyard of Interlaken, NY is thrilled to announce that their wine tasting space is now open for their first season.

The vineyard, located on the sloping green hills overlooking the west side of Cayuga lake, is family owned and operated on land that has belonged to the Bassette family since 1918. After planting vines in 2015 and beginning to grow their own grapes, the family began bottling their own wine two years ago. For the first time, they are now open to the public for wine tastings and sales. Currently, tastings take place in the outdoor tasting space. Shaded by the roof of the barn, patrons may sit to enjoy their wine (and a lovely lake breeze!) at handmade wooden tables that overlook the vines and Cayuga Lake. On cooler or rainier days, there is a cozy space just inside the barn where customers can take shelter and enjoy a warm heat lamp as they sip their wine. There are currently three dry reds, a rose, and five white wines (ranging from dry to semi-dry) available for customers to taste and purchase.

The 1840s farmhouse that stands on the land is currently being renovated to become the indoor tasting space. When you visit the vineyard, the family will be happy to share more about how they are striving to make a comfortable indoor tasting room while simultaneously honoring the family history of the house, which has been in the family for four generations, with both the owner and his mother growing up there. Progress on the house is currently proceeding on schedule, and the Bassettes are very excited about this new chapter in the history of their family estate.

Airy Acres Vineyard is located at 8011 Footes Corners Road in Interlaken (a stone’s throw from both Route 96 and Route 89). They are now open for the season Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11-6, with tastings available by appointment Mondays through Wednesdays. The Bassette family looks forward to welcoming you to the vineyard and sharing their delicious wines!
