The Finger Lakes is the largest wine-producing region in the state of New York, with nearly 150 diverse wineries found here. Seneca County is home to the largest concentration of those wineries. While the Finger Lakes produces world-class wines in both Red and White varietals, Riesling is the most celebrated. Over 220,000 cases of Riesling are produced each year - a testament to the region's perfect growing conditions that trace back to glacial activity from over 10,000 years ago. The cool climate, insulated terrain and rich, well drained soils provide a strong acidic backbone that gives our Rieslings their complexity and balance.
Seneca County also features convenient access to the two biggest wine trails around: Seneca Lake Wine Trail and Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. A typical wine trail experience includes tastings at 4-6 wineries per day. Among the highlights: year-round special events, music and entertainment, great food and plenty of breathtaking scenic views. The addition of other craft beverage makers like breweries, cideries and distilleries compliment the tasting experience and offer something for everyone. Several transportation options exist to enjoy each visit in a safe and responsible manner.
