National Civics Bee

How It Works

Students who participate in the National Civics Bee® gain knowledge about American democracy, practice engaging respectfully and constructively, and build trust in others and institutions. As they compete for prizes, students strengthen their civics, writing, and public speaking skills, and form friendships with other young leaders along the way.

How To Enter

1. Write Your Essay: Use the 2026 Essay Application Guide to access the prompt and support materials.

2. Review Contest Rules & Privacy Policy: Before you apply, review the 2026 Contest Rules and Privacy Policy.

3. Submit Your Essay Before February 3rd, 2026: The online application portal opens on September 8, 2025, and closes on February 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time.
