In 2007, Tom Murray and his family opened Muranda Cheese Company on their family farm in Waterloo, NY. As first generation dairy farmers, the Murray's raised some of the world's most highly regarded Holstein cattle. Now they are producing some of the world's finest artisan cheeses in the heart of the Finger Lakes.
Muranda Cheese is featured in many local restaurants as well as more than 85 wineries throughout the Finger Lakes Region. Still, the most popular way for visitors to experience Muranda Cheese is at the farm itself. Similar to local wineries, Muranda Cheese Company has a dedicated tasting room where cheese lovers can sample the award-winning products and learn more about wine pairing options. A gift shop also gives patrons the opportunity to buy fresh Muranda Cheese products such as the vacuum-sealed "Grab n-Go" cheese packs and other local specialties. Visitors to the farm from May through October can also experience the "Music in the Barn" event on weekends.
Muranda Cheese produces an all-natural, milk cheese that serves as the perfect compliment to the region's renowned wine industry. In fact, one of Muranda's most popular products was named "Red Buddy" because of its ability to pair so well with local red wine selections.
